vintage Alfred Shaheen Hawaiian pake mu'u
is a must for your upcoming special event!
It is in pristine condition! The dress
is made of turquoise cotton fabric and
features Japanese Kokeshi dolls, pagodas
and bonsai trees in metalic silver and
gold. The tag is missing but this wonderful
handprinted Shaheen print originated in
1955. The sleeves are dramatic batwing
shaped. There are two hidden side slit
pockets, deep enough to hold your lipstick,
ID and money! This dress closes with a
rear metal zipper and the original attached
belt is included.
Alfred Shaheen was one of the most creative
and prolific Hawaiian manufacturers active
from 1948 to 1988. Shaheen's handprinted
textile designs and fabrics were based
on the flora and fauna of the Hawaiian
Islands. These highly sought after garments
are legendary for their quality and innovative
designs.
