The dress is made of brown, black, olive
green and yellow cotton fabric featuring
an antique tapa print. The sleeves are
ruffled with an amazing fishtail train
hem. The back hem of the dress goes up
into a V, making the ruffled hem look
like a mermaid tail! The back hem is longer

Quality Since 1850 HONOLULU." This
dress closes with a rear metal zipper.
Alfred Shaheen was one of the most creative
and prolific Hawaiian manufacturers active
from 1948 to 1988. Shaheen's handprinted
textile designs and fabrics were based
on the flora and fauna of the Hawaiian
Islands, South Pacific and Asia. These
highly sought after garments are legendary
for their quality and innovative designs.
Alfred Shaheen's own labels include Alfred
Shaheen, Shaheen's of Honolulu, Surf 'n
Sand, Kiilani and Burma Gold Hand Prints.
Because Shaheen was the only Hawaiian
manuacturer to print his own fabrics,
he also created clothing for other retailers
including Andrade's, McInerny, Liberty
House and Waltah Clarke.
